Jacques Auxiette
Pays de la Loire Regional Council President
Jacques Auxiette (Higher Diploma in Mathematics) is born in 1940. Member of French Socialist Party since 1973, he has been elected as President of Pays de la Loire regional Council in 2004. Jacques Auxiette is attached to the French tradition of public service of high quality and serving the general interest.
Convinced that local authorities have an important role to play in sustainable development, peace and the creation of worldwide citizenship, Jacques Auxiette has been very active at international level : he is treasurer of the Worldwide Federation of United Cities (FMCU), member of the Management Committee of the French Association of Town Councils & Regions of Europe (AFCCRE) and also a founding member of the new worldwide organisation of local authorities : Cities & Local Government United.
