Prof. Alan Harding

Alan Harding is Professor of Urban and Regional Governance and Director of the Institute for Political and Economic Governance (ipeg) at the University of Manchester. He is a recognised expert in local and regional governance, particularly in relation to economic development and regeneration, in the UK, elsewhere in Europe and in North America. Alan has been centrally involved in recent debates in England about the future of urban and regional policy and governance and their relationship to UK Government initiatives in the fields of devolution, decentralisation and addressing spatial economic disparities. Alan’s has written well over a hundred books, reports, journal articles, book chapters and journalistic pieces. Most recently, he co-authored and co-edited Bright Satanic Mills (2007) and Changing Cities (2005).
