Jozef Niemiec
Confederal Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation
Jozef Niemiec is Confederal Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) since 2003. He is responsible for social protection, the disabled, regional policy and economic and social cohesion, internal market, and services of general interest.
He is also member of NSZZ Solidarność since 1980, with responsibilities at the enterprise, regional and national levels. From 1992 to 2003, he has been member of the National Commission, its Secretary from 1998 and Vice-President from 1999 to 2002, with responsibilities related to internal affairs and European affairs.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr Niemiec has been member of the Consultative Committee reporting to the Minister Plenipotentiary, responsible for integration into the European Union, and from 1999 to 2001, member of the CONSENSUS Programming Council (PHARE programme on social protection).
