Kimon Onuma

Kimon is a recognized building industry leader and has a unique perspective that spans architecture, planning, programming and software development. He created a BIM model server, the Onuma Planning System, which he used to streamline the design process of 35 Command Centers for the U.S. Coast Guard to six months, garnering his firm two CETI awards from Fiatech and three Technology in Architectural Practice awards from the American Institute of Architects. At the December 2006 international Open Geospatial Consortium event, he demonstrated a Web Feature Service link between BIM and GIS. Kimon is the creator of BIMStorms which is supported by buildingSMART, open standards and cloud computing. Industry awards and numerous publications have validated BIMStorms as a new practice model that promotes real-time expert knowledge integration via low carbon collaboration.
