Ruth Picker

Global Leader of IFRS Services at Ernst & Young

Ruth Picker has 27 years’ experience with Ernst & Young. She is Ernst & Young’s Global Leader of IFRS Services, having moved to London from Melbourne, Australia to take up that role. Prior to this she was the Managing Partner of Ernst & Young Melbourne, Oceania Leader in Climate Change and Sustainability Services while also holding a senior IFRS partner role in the Australian firm. Ruth has served as a senior technical and client service partner on numerous clients including a number of SEC registrants. She assisted many clients in their transition to IFRS.

Ruth was Deputy Chair of the Australian Accounting Standards Board for many years and during that time she oversaw the adoption of IFRS in Australia. She is Ernst & Young Global representative on the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC).

Ruth is also a member of Ernst & Young’s International Professional Standards Panel, the group within the firm that is ultimately responsible for determining Ernst & Young’s stance on client-specific audit and accounting judgements, and the firm’s Global IFRS Policy Committee.

In 2004 she co-authored a ground-breaking university text, "Applying International Accounting Standards", published by John Wiley & Sons. A third edition was published in 2009.
