Chair of COCIR Sustainable Healthcare focus group – Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development Philips Medical Systems
Paul Smit has held scientific and various management positions at Royal Philips Electronics, Europe’s largest electronics company. As Senior Vice President of Philips Healthcare he has been leading the Strategy and Business development in Philips Medical Systems, and has been member of the division’s extended management team. He led Philips’ Medical Systems expansion strategy and contributed to the quadrupling of the division over an eight year period. He is spokesperson for Philips’ Healthcare worldwide to the financial community and international press, and chair or board member of organizations such as the European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine, LifeTech Networks, the High–Risk-Plaque Initiative, the Dutch Government’s Health Innovation Platform, and the Dutch Research program in Life Sciences and Health. For COCIR he chairs the task force Sustainability of Healthcare systems.
