Jukka Takala
Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, OSHA
Dr. Jukka Takala is Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work since September 16th, 2006. Prior to this role he was Director of the International Labour Organisation’s InFocus Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork), the largest programme in the ILO’s social protection sector.
Since he joined the ILO in 1978, he also served as Chief of the Occupational Safety and Health Branch, and Chief of the Safety and Health Information Services Programme. During his carrier, he also served at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Labour in Finland, as Inspector, Safety Engineer, Chief Engineer and Chief of Machine Safety Bureau in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He holds a BSc and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, and a Doctorate in Engineering (D.Sc. Tech.) from the Tampere University of Technology (Finland).
